Dress porn.

So. Quite a few of my friends have seen my wedding dress, but I've also had people ask what I would've gotten if I hadn't ended up with the one that I chose. I managed to find the other top contenders online, so hopefully you enjoy wedding dress eyeing as much as I enjoyed trying them on! These are definitely not the only ones I tried on, but they were my top picks.

First up, I was enamored with this Reem Acra. I tried it on with a white tulle skirt over it, which means I would've had two dresses in one- the full sequined cocktail dress plus skirt for the ceremony, then just the sequin number for the reception and after party:

The thing is, I am not crazy about myself in strapless, so even though it was gorgeous and fun and sparkly, it got pushed aside.

Strangely enough, I liked two other strapless dresses a lot. This Lazaro, which was much more beautiful in person:

But too bridal-y for me in the end, and this Nicole Miller, that you have to see in person to believe. It has the most beautiful beading and a wonderful drape, and I was picturing it with emerald earrings:

It had a vintage look that I liked that still managed to be super chic, but I knew I wouldn't be thrilled with the way I looked in it since I have an annoying hangup about my arms. So, on to the next one! Which happened to be a STUNNING Claire Pettibone that stayed high in the running for quite a while.

I would've done the underlay in a taupe instead of the white to give it some more depth. This one was really hard to turn down, and my tattoo looked really neat through the sheer back, but it wasn't to be.

Still channeling vintage, I fell for this BHLDN number:

But although I thought it'd be perfect, it just wasn't quite...it...once I put it on.

And then, I thought I'd found it. A Rivini that was every so slightly pinkish-lavender. Lace, low v-neck and very low v-back, romantic but sexy, bridal but still really special. It's hard to get a grasp of the color in this picture, but trust.

My tattoo looked amazing as well, and Joseph had mentioned that he'd like to be able to see it.

I was pretty much done once I put it on. This is it! I found it! It's lovely and perfect and I feel like a goddess! The only holdup was that even though the color was awesome and different, it washed me out a tiny bit. It would've been fine once I had on blush and some lipstick, but you don't really want to have to have on certain makeup to look great in something. At any rate, I was willing to make do for such a gorgeous piece of work.

BUT...we still had one appointment to go, and I knew that they had a specific designer at the last stop that I had been drooling over for years. So we told the salon with the Rivini that we'd let them know, and we headed a couple miles down the road. Lo and behold, not only did they have the specific designer, they had the specific dress that I'd been lusting after for over a year. The sales lady (who happened to be the owner of the salon; this impossibly chic 50-something year old) put the dress on me and basically said that was it, I didn't need to try any of the other dresses on that we'd taken into the fitting room. And she was right! I'm completely obsessed with it, and I can't wait to show you all come November. My amazing photographer friend, Nadine, who is shooting our wedding, is also doing my bridal portraits, so I'll be forcing you to look at it multiple times whether you like it or not :)

But enough about me, which dress would you have chosen? Any of them? None of them?

  1. Sorry to be an insomniac and late-night stalk your blog but I love your bridal style! The Pettibone and BHLDN are my favorites and from those two alone I think I can guess who designed the dress you chose and I bet it's going to be stunning!

    Congrats on the coming nuptials!
