Befores and Afters.

I don't know about you, but I LOVE seeing Before and After photos. It's the only reason I ever watch those horrendous weight loss shows that are on every time I'm at the gym (not that I've been to the gym recently, mind you, as reflected in a 3 pound weight gain), and it's why I love the makeover episode of America's Next Top Model.

Check out Shedding for the Wedding's host Sara Rue's before and after.

And Lauren's makeover from ANTM:

Much improved. Minus the whole "sexy diaper" situation. From FanPop

And now, some real life before and afters (photos courtesy of the always great Dr. Navar). Our main Bastrop cabin before the fires:

These are before the big deck/pool addition. You can just see the little cabin in the background on the right.

And after the fires:

Creepy! We hope we get to keep some of those trees.

My dad's garage/workshop that houses the 4 wheelers and all of his tools,  however, is perfectly intact!

Wanna see?

How? No clue.

Dad was SO thrilled about this. Plus it gave us all a morale boost, since we now have a part of the old place still with us. The grandkids were ecstatic, as you can imagine, that their 4 wheelers didn't perish. Who needs bedrooms and antiques when you can have 4 WHEELERS?? I mean, seriously.
:)

We weren't supposed to be able to go out there until this week, but as my dad said, "You're mother took her top off and a state trooper drove us out there after that." Let's assume he was joking ("JOHN!!" says my mother). Dad truthfully said that there was a little fire going by the garage that he dumped a gallon of water on, so I guess we aren't technically out of the woods yet (hehe), but we're going back out this coming Friday to do the official assessment.

Zee parents already have a pretty thorough idea of how they want the new cabin to look (more bedrooms! taller ceilings! mom's bathtub! bigger everything!), and I'm so excited to get to share the progress with you all! My parent's brilliant contractor/handyman extraordinaire still has his house, so he's already signed on to start planning our new place, which we hope to have by around this time next year. I know you're all sick of hearing about Bastrop by now, but it's the main thing on my mind, so I had to share the newest info. Thanks for sticking with me!
